Homework
Homework is regarded by the Government as a key element of a child's learning (even in the primary years) and it is therefore something that we will set on a regular basis at Great Sampford.
However, in order for it to have the desired impact - which is to help move the children's learning, understanding and independence forward, it is vital that it is well-supported at home and completed on a regular basis. Teachers will issue a 'block' of homework activities.
The homework task sheet for each class are detailed separately (and can be found in the class pages) although they all share the same key elements: English tasks, Maths tasks and topic based tasks.
The tasks are flexible, it is suggested that one is completed each week but in some cases that may not be possible so you might like to complete 2 or 3 one weekend and rest on another etc.
- Please bring homework in to school as soon as it is completed, it will be acknowledged, shared and returned accordingly.
- We will try our best to display as much of the homework in class as possible.
- For every piece of homework received, your child will receive a ‘Sampford Smile’ as recognition of their efforts. They may receive more rewards for the content of the task.
- The homework is designed to be creative; there really is no right or wrong way of completing the tasks.
In addition to this we strongly recommend regular reading, use or TTRs and spellings.
