Key Stage 2

At Great Sampford our Key Stage 2 children are taught in two separate classes; Swift Class comprising of Years 3 and 4 and Eagle Class comprising of Years 5 and 6.

The children in Swift Class are taught by Miss Creedon who is supported by Mrs Mikkides. The children in Eagle Class are taught by Mr Laing who is supported by Miss Mitchell who is also an HLTA.

The curriculum in both classes is delivered via a two year rolling programme. This ensures that the children receive a broad and balanced education during  their time with us. Wherever possible a thematic based approach is adopted to ensure that the children understand the integrated nature of learning and how it can be quite hard to separate some matter into specific subjects. However, on occasion, subjects maybe taught in isolation, this is particularly so with Religious Education, Physical Education and some aspects of the maths and science curricula.

We endeavour to make the curriculum as engaging as possible and so visits and visitors are an important element of the children's learning. We also believe it is important that the children understand the role they have to play in our wider community and, to this end, we support a wide range of differing charities.
