Safeguarding

Great Sampford Primary School takes seriously its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in its care. "The welfare of the child is paramount." and the Children Act 1989 places a duty on local authorities to prmote and safeguard the welfare of children. Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 places a statutory responsibility on the governing body to have policies and procedures in place that safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are pupils of the school. This policy aims to prevent significant harm to children and it applies to all pupils, staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to the school. The school recognises it is an agent of referral and not of investigation.

All staff receive regular training on safeguarding and child protection enabling them to be better placed to recognise the indicators and respond accordingly to help keep children safe.

Great Sampford Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all governors, staff and visitors to share in this commitment.
