Head Teacher - Swift Class (2 Days a week)

Miss Reis is our Swift Class (Year 3 & 4) teacher and our Head Teacher. She studied Chemistry and Maths at The University of Sheffield, before her PGCE in Portsmouth SCITT. She is very passionate about wellbeing and ensuring every child is happy.

Mr Laing

Deputy Head Teacher - Eagle Class

Mr Laing is our Eagle Class (Year 5 & 6) teacher and our Deputy Head Teacher. He has been a teacher for over two decades. He has a particular interest in Maths and Sport. Mr. Laing always delivers exciting lessons, he is very skilled at making learning memorable and 'hands on'. We love his assemblies!

Miss Swain

Class Teacher - Robin Class

Miss Swain is our Robin class (Reception) teacher and has a B.Sc. (hons) degree in Biochemistry and a P.G.C.E (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) from Cambridge University. Miss Swain really enjoys teaching and regularly gives children opportunities that are 'outside of the box'. She is passionate about phonics and early learning.

Miss Herbert

Class Teacher - Puffin Class

Miss Herbert teaches in Puffin Class (Years 1 & 2). She comes with a wealth of knowledge of schools and the Early Years from her time as a TA. She is always prepared for any lesson and her resources make each lesson more exciting. She is passionate about continuous prevision in KS1.

Mrs Murrell

Class Teacher- Swift Class (3 Days a week)

Mrs Murrell currently teaches in Swift class (Years 3 & 4). She joined Great Sampford in September 2008 and has been teaching for fourteen years in total. Mrs Murrell has a B.Sc. (hons) degree in Maths and Statistics from Anglia Ruskin University and a P.G.C.E (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) from Cambridge University. She is very interested in Science and makes learning fun with the experiments she creates.

Miss Mitchell

Higher Level Teaching Assistant- Eagle Class

Miss Mitchell is a Teaching Assistant in our Year 5/6 Class with Mr Laing and has been at Great Sampford since September 2006. Miss Mitchell has the Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification and so teaches across the school when needed.

Mrs Hale

Teaching Assistant - Robin Class

Mrs Hale is a Teaching Assistant in Robin Class and has been at Great Sampford since September 2001. She is also particularly interested in the outdoors and runs our Forest School provision.

Mrs Mikkides

Teaching Assistant - Swift Class and Robin Class

Mrs Mikkides is a Teaching Assistant in Swift and Robin Class. Mrs Mikkides encourages the children to keep going and has a particularly calming nature on the children. She is very talented and performs in the village plays as well as a member of the Sampford Singers.

Mrs Gates

Teaching Assistant - Puffin Class

Mrs Gates is a Teaching Assistant in Puffin Class and is new to our team in 2025. She brings a wealth of knowledge and life experiences from her travels around the world. 

Miss Pass

Miss Pass is a Teaching Assistant in Puffin Class with Miss Herbert. She joined us in 2024 from a PE teaching background and brings excitement to the children with different sports.

Miss Lucking

Teaching Assistant - Eagle Class

Miss Lucking is a Teaching Assistant in Eagle Class. She did used to work in the kitchen but we managed to persuade her into the classroom where she works alongside many of our children and has a real understanding of how different children progress.

Mrs Bullock

Admin Officer

Mrs Bullock works in the school office. She will happily answer any questions about the school that supports our families and visitors. She also takes the lead with attendance in the school and ensures we are an asthma friendly school.

Miss Moody

Admin Officer

Miss Moody works hard in the office, sorting out the finances and many other things. She brings a wealth of knowledge from a varied background and helps to keep the building running smoothly.

Miss Berry

Catering Manager

Miss Berry is our wonderful chef in the kitchen. She manages to produce some of the most delicious food and cakes for all the children and staff at the school. She is always keen to try new things and loves making smiley faces with the tomato ketchup.

Miss Broughtwood

Kitchen Assistant and Cleaner

Miss Broughtwood has been with Great Sampford since she was 16 years old. She is a resident of the village and works in the kitchen to help Miss Berry. She also ensures the school is always looking it's best with her daily cleaning. 

Miss Knight

Sports Coach

Miss Knight joins us on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to deliver PE to all of the children. She works for Prestige and also helps with the running of after school club. 

George Withers & Jamie Kruppa 

Peripatetic Music Teachers

Our music teachers offer guitar, piano and drum lessons. Parents are welcome to contact the office for more information on these private music lessons. 

Mr Finn

Maintenance 

Mr Finn helps to maintain the school grounds and building. He brings his background from the construction industry to help us with health and safety.
